On 20 March 2024, The IIS Economics Society organised an industrial trip to Manpura Village and the headquarters of Jaipur Rugs. This visit provided students with a firsthand experience of traditional weaving practices and the empowering role of women in the weaving industry. Upon arrival at Manpura Village, students were immersed in the captivating art of weaving on traditional looms. They witnessed how women weavers not only create rugs but also weave dreams for their families, embodying resilience and tradition. The visit highlighted the power of women's empowerment through self-sufficiency, as they showcased their skills and dedication to craft vibrant rugs that reflect the heart and soul of their communities. Students had the privilege of interacting with women weavers, including Krishna ji, Mamta ji, and other artisans, gaining insights into their craft and the impact of their work on their livelihoods.

Transitioning to Jaipur Rugs headquarters, students were enthralled by a mesmerising rug show that showcased a stunning array of designs and patterns. Each rug told a unique story of craftsmanship and dedication, reflecting the innovative techniques employed to create these masterpieces. Students gained a deeper understanding of the intricate process involved in rug-making, from design conception to final production, and the significance of preserving traditional techniques in a modern context.

Later, students were encouraged to channel their newfound knowledge and experiences into creative expression. They were urged to create a documentary capturing their learnings and observations from the industrial visit.
