Visit to Jaipur Literature Festival, 2014

A Report

The Department of Economics organised a visit to Jaipur Literature Festival,2014 held at Diggi Palace from 17th - 21st January 2014. JLF is one of the most exciting literature festivals of Asia, and is the biggest free literature festival which brings together the greatest thinkers and writers of the time across South Asia and the world. A group of 15 students from the Economics Department of The IIS University got a chance to be a part of it. Moreover, I was fortunate to be a part of it not only as a visitor but also as a volunteer of this grand festival. This year the festival started with the keynote address by Indian economist and Nobel laureate Dr. Amartya Sen. His keynote enclosed the allegory of being granted seven wishes by ‘a Goddess of Medium Level Things,’ one wish for each day of the week – to illustrate his hopes for the future of India. He mesmerised the audience by his address and received a standing ovation as a token of respect. His inspiring session was a boon to all of us, as we not only perceived the learned thoughts but also were enlightened by various Economical wisdoms delivered by the revered figure.
