Overall Report:
The session organized under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, began with commemorating the RBI officials by the student representatives of the IIS Economics Society and the students of Department of Financial Studies. The session proceeded with an official from RBI informing the students about digital banking and different ways for cashless payments. The students were briefed on various types of transaction methods that can be used while making payments through internet and mobile banking along with the benefits & challenges associated with digital banking. Moreover, the students were made aware of the precautions to be taken while availing the various payment services for transactions.
Keeping in mind one of the priorities of G-20, Technological Transformation, the session was organized for spreading awareness of the advancements happening in Banking sector. The highly interactive session educated students about NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, Aadhaar enabled Payment System by NPCI, E- Rupi and other ways of availing banking facilities even without internet using ‘*99#’.
Digital India, depicting self-reliance in ways, is an initiative that helps transfer of funds from any device. The pilot project launched for people who cannot afford smartphones, the program ‘OfflinePay’ was brought into attention of the students. Just as important, the officials made an attempt to spread awareness regarding the fraudulent methods used to maliciously steal sensitive data and debit money from bank accounts of innocent through phishing links & calls, sim cloning, ATM card skimming and more. The event became even more interactive when officials shared their personal experiences of their clients succumbing to frauds. Finally, the students were informed about various official platforms for registering complaints & safety point followed by a query session.
By the end of the session, an informative quiz was held by another official and the prizes were given to the students who attended the session with utmost attention.
At the end, a vote of thanks was delivered to the guests who were welcoming to all the queries asked by the students and faculty attending the session.
Outcome: Everyone attending the session was made aware of different modes of payments, things to keep in mind while using such banking services online and many other safety measures in account with them.
