A Report

The Department of Economics of the IIS (deemed to be University) organized a five day National Workshop on Basic Applied Econometrics from 26th to 30th December 2018.

The resource person for the workshop was Prof. Pranab Banerji (Retd. Professor) IIPA, New Delhi. Prof Banerji has been associated with Jawaharlal Nehru University, IIM Rohtak, NTPC Business School, Noida and School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi.

52 participants from various institutions like Central University, Gujarat; Ram Manohar Lohiya University, Lucknow; IIM, Kashipur; University of Rajasthan etc attended this workshop. An opportunity to understand applied econometrics particularly with the use of EVIEWS software enhanced the importance of this workshop. It provided a necessary platform to the participants to acquire the skills to handle this challenging subject with confidence. 18 sessions were conducted on various topics like regression model- assumptions and estimation, use of dummy variables, concepts related to time series and panel data etc. The workshop will prove immensely helpful to researchers in analyzing economic and financial data and developing econometric models with the help of EVIEWS software.
