Educational Tour

Educational Trip to Gurgaon-Delhi, 12-13 May 2015

A Report

The Department of Economics organized an educational tour to Gurgaon-Delhi from 12-13 May, 2015. Twenty-three students accompanied by two faculty members, Dr. Nidhi Sharma (Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Economics) and Ms. Charu Jhamaria (Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science).

Day 1, 12th May 2015: We started our drive from the University Campus at 6 am in Luxury AC coach and reached Gurgaon at around 1 in the afternoon. We checked in our hotel and got our lunch there. At around 2, we drove from Gurgaon to Delhi and our first visiting point was Nehru Memorial Museum. It was quite a learning experience for us to know about the work and personal life of our first Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru. Beside the knowledge of our textbooks, there were more to learn about him. Next we went for the sightseeing in Delhi wherein we saw the President House, Foreign Embassies, India Gate, Military area, Residential Areas of Ministers, etc. Next, we went to see QutubMinar and got ourselves a very funny (though very informative) guide who gave a detailed account of this grand Mughal monument. Then, we left for Gurgaon. Our next destination was Ambience Mall which is the largest mall of North India. It was a quite refreshing place after a long day of our journey. At around 9, we headed back to our hotel.

Day 2,13th May 2015: Day 2 started with an early breakfast at hotel and then, was called to the conference room of the hotel for a meeting with the Financial Head of the Hotel. He gave us a presentation as to how the hotel economy grows and what all factors are involved to stimulate its growth. The presentation was quite a knowledgeable one. Later, we were welcomed by the unexpected rain and a pleasant weather while we were checking out of the hotel. Our last destination point was Kingdom of Dreams followed by the Jhumroo Show. The Jhumroo show was an amazing musical theatrical show that was based on the theme of “A tribute to Kishore Kumar”. The 3hours-show was quite a breathtaking one and it really made us groove with its music and get flown away with the performance of the star-cast.

The trip was quite a memorable one for all the students and these memories will be cherished forever.
