Report on ECONVISION: Documenting Socio-economic Realities

The IIS Economics Society organized a documentary-making competition for all the students who participated in an industrial visit to Manpura Majeri village and Jaipur Rugs headquarters in Jaipur. Those interested in participating, either individually or in groups of two or three, were provided with a prompt on the day of the visit, focusing on issues related to challenges faced by the weaving industry, particularly concerning women. Each participant was required to create a documentary lasting approximately 2 to 3 minutes, focusing primarily on their assigned prompt.The competition commenced with the facilitation of the honorable judge, Ms. Aastha Saxena. Subsequently, each participant showcased their creativity through the documentaries they had prepared, accompanied by descriptions of their respective topics/prompts. Each performance was captivating, imparting knowledge and lessons gained through such experiences.Following the presentations, the judge provided feedback on the performances, highlighting areas for improvement in the documentaries. Finally, the winners were announced, and the event concluded with a group photograph featuring the winners, all the teachers of the Economics Department, and the esteemed judge.
