A guest lecture on ‘Various Aspects of Research’was organised by the Department of Economics on the 9th August, 2019 for the post graduate students. The speaker for the session was Prof. Ganesh Kawadia from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, M.P. The session began with understanding the meaning of research, types of research methods- Sscientific method and non scientific, through various examples. The main aim of research is to find solution to the problems and it starts with a research question. Research should have suggestions based on the study and the researcher should be able to create new tools, concepts and theories and reliable predictions related to the problems.

Prof. Kawadia suggested various ideas and tools that can be used to develop a research theory. He explained the following steps involved in research:-

  1. Identification of topic
  2. Research questions
  3. Review of literature
  4. Identification of research gaps
  5. Research objectives
  6. Research hypothesis
  7. Methodology
  8. Research design
  9. Research area
  10. Analysis of data and results
  11. Conclusions
  12. Suggestions (based on our own study not the generalised suggestions)
  13. Bibliography
  14. References : people whose ideas we have taken

He highlighted various problems in conducting a research and gave the solutions to overcome such problems. He guided and motivated the students to come forward in the field of research and to help the society by their valuable findings regarding various economic and social issues. So in this way he enlightened the students with his valuable knowledge and shared the information which he had gained from his vast experience.
