Educational Tour to Agra-Fatehpur Sikri, 29-30 March 2014

A Report

The Department of Economic and Fashion & Textile Technology organized an educational tour to Agra-Fatehpur Sikri from 29-30 March, 2014. Thirty eight students from the two departments went for the tour accompanied by two faculty members, Ms. Neha Gupta (Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion & Textile Technology) and Dr Nidhi Sharma (Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Economics).

Day 01, 29 March 2014: We started our drive from the University campus at 7 am in a luxury AC coach and reached Agra at around 12 noon. Thereafter, visited Leather Park situated in Agra Industrial Park and learned about the various processes (cleaning, dyeing, polishing etc.) through which raw animal hide passes before it is ready to be sold to manufacturers of leather products. Despite intolerably foul smell in the leather processing units, students were very inquisitive and enthusiastic to learn. Next we visited the EPIP Export Promotion Park in Agra Industrial Area which has 42 production units. The ENKAY Exports (India) Ltd. which deals in ladies fashion accessories and garment applications  was of special interest to student of Fashion and Textiles. The visit to ENKAY Exports (India) Ltd. was extremely meaningful as they offered to provide internships and placements to our students. At around 3.30 pm we checked in at hotel Raj Mahal in Agra. In evening, we went to Sadar Bazar and chat wali gali.

Day 02, 30 March 2014: Day two began with early breakfast in hotel before we left for Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The guide explained in detail why is Taj so unique and what has made it say intact and strong even after 360 years. He also narrated interesting stories about Taj and Agra Fort. After lunch at hotel, we checked out and stated our drive to historic city of Fatehpur Sikri at 1.00 pm. On way to Jaipur we initiated an interactive session wherein all the students shared their experiences. The session was very enriching with lots of laughter, tears and hugs. Reached the IIS University campus at 9.30 pm.

The tour proved to be very educational and enjoyable.
